When drivers consume alcohol, they not only put themselves at risk but others on the road. Fortunately, such accidents are preventable <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">with a combination of<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> education, personal responsibility, and community efforts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">There are also systems that can<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> provide additional support. We\u2019ll build one in this project.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">This circuit design includes an alcohol detection device with an engine locking system. It uses the property of conductivity in an MQ3 alcohol gas sensor.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Working principle<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The MQ3 alcohol gas sensor is developed from a material called <\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">SnO2<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, which detects alcohol gas. Connecting it to a microcontroller makes it possible to register the SnO2\u2019s change in voltage output in the presence of alcohol. Calibrate the sensor<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Power on Arduino and the alcohol sensor.<\/li>\n<li>Allow the sensor to warm up and then calibrate it by exposing it to clean air and recording the baseline value.<\/li>\n<li>Test the sensor with an alcohol source to ensure accurate readings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This is a cost-effective sensor with many uses, including alcohol alarms, portable detectors, and breathalyzers. It&#8217;s quite sensitive and typically offers a long lifespan.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Step 4: <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">demonstration<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">If no alcohol is detected, the vehicle&#8217;s motor will run normally.
